Job description

The senior IT System Engineering Consultant provides deep subject matter expertise focused on stability and resiliency of externally hosted IT services integrated with BofA's eCommerce environment.

Typically 5-7 years of IT enterprise systems consulting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Daily facilitation of video teleconference meetings involving a large number of participants, and leading individuals outside your group to determine Root Cause (RC) of problems. Related prior experience is required for discussion during interviews.

    Required skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (beginning with your resume).
    • Experienced with high-availability designs of enterprise IT systems and networks, and data center disaster recovery designs. Skilled navigating very large organizations across multiple business areas to influence decision makers, and win trust using people skills and deep technology knowledge.
    • Must be a mature self-starter able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction. Must manage competing priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining necessary processes, controls and procedures that ensure accuracy and integrity in reporting into needed multiple SORs.
    • Must be adept at decomposing complex technology and/or process problems into well organized, logical and detailed descriptions that succinctly highlight critical issues and will facilitate problem solving. Attention to detail and effective listening skills for driving Problem Management disciplines to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Working knowledge of IT system monitoring (at all 7 layers), eCommerce/Internet network technologies, network and information security related technologies (DMZs, Proxies, Load Balancers, Firewalls) and operating systems (VMWare/ Oracle RAC, DBMS, Clusters) as the role will require expertise analyzing IT system designs for resiliency, DR/BC capabilities, and then documenting weaknesses and gaps.
    • A seasoned system engineer or architect that can quickly establish a full understanding of business objectives and underlying drivers, so they can develop and drive strategies and solutions in support of initiatives and projects that will improve and measure IT services.

    Desired skills

    • Professional level of etiquette in high pressure situations
    • Proven ability to explain complex IT concepts in non-technical terms
    • Proven success building internal and external relationships with vendors and business partners.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translating business requirements, create and deliver reports, presentations and other documents as related to responsibilities listed above.

    Preferred Skills

    • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles and related technologies
    • Working knowledge of data security issues and solutions
    • BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science
    • Infrastructure or enterprise architecture experience
    • Project Management or team management experience
    • Working knowledge and experience of ITIL processes
