Job description

This position is integral to the Sales Desk's goal of building our book of business. The Capital Markets Sales Desk's objective is to provide liquidity to lenders and the mortgage market through capital market products, programs, initiatives, and transactions that have high balance sheet efficiency and meet appropriate risk-adjusted return targets as defined by senior management, the Board, and the regulator.

Responsibilities

    • Promote Capital Markets' liquidity providing services including the Whole Loan Conduit, trading of MBS, and Early Funding options through all effective methods, including telephone coverage, networking, travel, conference attendance, and mailings.
    • Build, maintain, and grow an active, sophisticated, and diverse book of accounts.
    • Understand and evaluate new developments in the market place that could have a potential impact on the business and look for opportunities to enhance our business practices to adapt to market changes. Provide recommendations to management on how to adjust the business strategy to adapt to changing market conditions.
    • Track market activities and understand/report relative value opportunities to customers and make pricing recommendations to traders.
    • Execute transactions including the acquisition of whole loans, trading of MBS, and negotiating of Early Funding terms.
    • Provide lenders with competitive executions, trading/committing opportunities, market commentary, and excellent customer service.
    • Consult with the traders on opportunities to provide additional liquidity to lenders, investors and the broader capital markets. Work closely with the Customer Engagement Account Teams to keep them abreast of account activity.
    • Ensure that all policies and procedures are properly observed, all trades and commitments are conducted with authorized personnel, all records and contracts are complete and up to date, and all customer position limits/risk tolerances are observed.
    • Lead team discussions, prepare management reports, represent the Sales Desk in internal discussions with key stakeholders, and provide lender profiles/summaries on an "as needed" basis. Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced members of the team.

     

    EDUCATION  

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required

     

       MINIMUM EXPERIENCE  

    • 6+ years of related experience

     

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS   

    • In depth understanding of mortgage banker pipeline management, including pricing/best execution, pooling, and delivery is a plus.
    • Deep understanding of mortgage backed securities market is a plus.
    • Strong selling and customer service skills are mandatory
    • Demonstrate proven ability to develop customer relationships
    • Understanding of financial tools and concepts is necessary
    • Good computer skills, including spreadsheet expertise.
